sportsbook

Legal sports betting in Arizona started in April 2021. The state’s governor, Doug Ducey, made public statements in support of the measure. It took more than a year to legalize sports betting in Arizona. But the state is finally on the right track. In September of that year, the first sportsbooks opened in the state. DraftKings, FanDuel, BetMGM, and Caesars were among the first operators. DraftKings went live in Arizona on May 1, 2020, followed by BetMGM and BetRivers.

Payout format in sportsbooks

Whether you’re new to sports betting, or you’ve been betting for many years, you’ve likely seen at least one difference between the odds and payout format offered by various sportsbooks. While many sportsbooks use decimal odds, other sportsbooks use fractional odds. Fractional odds are easier to read and understand. For example, a bet of $10 at 9/2 odds would pay out $45 if the boxer won.

Point spreads

In sports betting, point spreads are used to spread out the action between two teams. They range from +100 on one side to -120 on the other. This value is set by the sportsbook in order to encourage equal betting on both sides of a game. If one team has more bettors, the point spread may be adjusted.

Money line

The money line at a sportsbook represents the odds of a team winning a game. It can be tricky to interpret because the betting odds may change quickly. It is also not always clear why the odds are changed. However, sportsbooks are in the business of making money, so they must adjust their moneyline odds accordingly.

Over/unders

When you’re betting on a game at a sportsbook, you can place wagers on over/unders (also known as totals). These bets are based on the end score of a game, and you bet on whether that score will be higher or lower than the sportsbook’s prediction. You can also place over/under wagers on the number of points a team will score in overtime.

Bonuses offered by sportsbooks

Sportsbooks offer several different types of bonuses to attract new customers. These can vary in size and can be used to deposit money into your account or to withdraw winnings. You should be aware of any restrictions before using the bonus. Most signup bonuses are offered in the form of free bets. This is a good way to test out the sportsbook before making a deposit.
